4-25-2012 Illinois:
Rockford - Victims of sex offenders want to keep their attackers in the public eye.
They're throwing their support behind a bill to keep convicted criminals on the state registry longer. Right now, misdemeanor sex offenses land a person on the list for 10 years. They want to up it to 15 and for the most severe crimes, 25 years.
Supporters say the measure is necessary for public safety. But, opponents say it's too harsh and it'll only ruin a convict's chance of returning to a normal life. ..Source.. by Stateline.com
