City Attorney Wanye Winthers proposed repealing most of the ordinance at a City Council meeting, but no one seconded Mayor Tita Smith’s motion to approve the changes.
As other cities across the county are repealing their sex-offender ordinances following a court ruling saying they conflicted with state law, Orange will keep its sex-offender law as is.
City Attorney Wanye Winthers proposed repealing most of, but not all of, the city’s sex-offender ordinance at the last City Council meeting. But the proposal died after no one seconded Mayor Tita Smith’s motion to approve the changes.
