8-30-2013 Florida:
An investigation by the Sun Sentinel found numerous failures in Florida's implementation of the Jimmy Ryce law, which evaluates sex offenders before they're released to prevent repeat offenders. But many released went on to commit more offenses. Since the report, some lawmakers say they plan on tougher legislation for offenders in the next legislative session. Searching the state's sex offender and predator registry reveals cases throughout South Florida, though the Sun Sentinel found that some offenders weren't listed.
How does the sex offender registry make us more safe? Tell us what you think below. WLRN 91.3 FM news talk show, The Florida Roundup, will be chatting with Sun Sentinel reporter Sally Kestin about the investigation on Friday, Aug. 30 at noon. Leave us a message at 305-330-9576, and we may air your thoughts during the show. ..Source.. by Stefania Ferro
