Arson Registry law takes effect in Ohio

7-2-2013 Ohio:

People convicted of arson in Ohio will have to register with the county where they live, according to a new law that took effect Monday.

Ohio joins California and Montana as states with registries of convicted arsonists, similar to sex offenders.

The Ohio Attorney General's Office will maintain the registry. Those convicted of setting fires will have to pay a $50 registration fee and additional $25 fee every year.

The law also includes those currently in jail for setting a fire.

If someone fails to register with the county sheriff, he or she could face being charged with a fifth-degree felony. ..Source.. by NEWS9
