5-29-2012 Colorado:
DENVER — A new Colorado law requires sex offenders to register with local authorities even if they don't have a fixed residence.
The law establishes a system for sex offenders to verify their registration with law enforcement in their jurisdiction every one or three months. Republican Rep. Bob Gardner of Colorado Springs, the bill sponsor, said Tuesday the legislation is meant to close a loophole for registered sex offenders who don't have a fixed address.
The bill was among those that Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper signed last week.
The law takes effect July 1. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will issue reports on how the system is working every six months until January 2015. ..Source.. by The Republic
