10-8-2010 Virginia:
A joint effort between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Virginia law enforcement officials arrested 15 foreign nationals in Virginia and D.C. who have been convicted of sex crimes and are now slated for deportation, officials announced Friday.
The deportations were the result of Operation SOAR (Sexual Offender Alien Removal), an enforcement program in which state and federal officials identified 356 foreigner nationals in local, state and federal prisons who have been convicted of sex offenses are eligible to be deported. Other offenders will be deported after they complete their prison sentences.
“We are committed to keeping Virginians safe and secure,” said Gov. Bob McDonnell. “No criminal alien sex offenders should be allowed to remain in our communities.” ..Source.. David Sherfinski
