See Michigan Bills: HB-4468 -- HB-4469 and HB-50437-2-2010 Michigan:
LANSING, Mich. — People convicted of rape could permanently lose their medical licenses under legislation that has passed the Michigan House.
The bipartisan, three-bill package passed Thursday by overwhelming margins now goes to the Senate.
The legislation would cover doctors, dentists and nurses practicing in Michigan. The bills call for the permanent revocation of a medical license for someone convicted of criminal sexual conduct in the first, second or third degrees.
Current law allows medical professionals who lose their licenses after a criminal sexual conduct conviction to reapply for licenses after five years.
Supporters say the proposal for a permanent revocation is designed to protect people from medical professionals who have previously victimized patients. ..Source.. by Chicago Tribune
