Notice the accusation, that, this man somehow planned to travel to commit this crime. How is it possible that he planned to do this on a cruise ship BEFOREHAND? PITTSBURGH — An Independence Township man who’s had similar legal problems before should be held on a federal sex crime charge, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Judge Francis Caiazza said Sherwood Stevenson, 71, will be kept in custody until he can be tried on a single charge of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with another person. Stevenson, of 762 Bocktown-Cork Road, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
The charge against Stevenson stems from an incident on a cruise ship in December, when he is alleged to have fondled a boy in a hot tub on the ship. He was indicted on the charge — a federal count because it involves crossing state lines (Sec. 2250 AWA) — on June 15 and was arrested on Monday, said Margaret Philbin, spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Pittsburgh.
