Sex offender arrested hours after release

Having done no wrong and the state acknowleges equiptment error, why arrest this man?
4-22-2010 Wisconsin:

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau police arrested a sex offender just hours after he was released yesterday.

The GPS unit that 43-year-old Paul Podgorak wear did not synchronize to the satellite and showed him out of range, said corrections field supervisor Mike Williams. The technical failure sometimes happens when a sex offender is released into the community.

Podgorak will be held in jail until the problem is fixed. Williams says that will likely happen tomorrow.

Podgorak was initially sentenced to 10 years probation for molesting a 6-year-old boy. But a judge sentenced him to eight years in prison for violating terms of his probation by having unauthorized contact with a child and viewing pornography. ..Source..

Figures.... The state is wrong in this instance yet the offender pays the price. Not as unusual as most people would think. Of coarse, this also goes on his record as a violation (unfounded due to equipment failure) and should s/he ever go back to court for any reason, this will be held against him/her.
