A judge today approved a binding plea agreement allowing a former St. Joseph County home detention officer to avoid prison for a sex crime against an offender.
St. Joseph Superior Judge Jerome Frese accepted the agreement that prosecutors reached with Andre Lawson last month.
Lawson, 42, pleaded guilty to Class C felony attempted sexual misconduct. He received a two-year suspended sentence and two years of probation.
Prosecutors said Lawson, during a Dec. 13, 2008, monitoring visit to the North Liberty home of a 22-year-old female offender, lifted up her shirt, fondled and kissed her. He then asked her to perform oral sex, prosecutors charged.
The community corrections department fired Lawson soon after the charges were filed. ..Source.. WSBT.com
