Can this be true? The mother and her child were trespassing on private property and peeped into his windows at 8:40AM, sees him naked getting a cup of coffee after just waking up, and he gets arrested? Unbelievable! Thank heavens I don't live in Virginia...
10-22-2009 Virginia:
A 29-year-old Springfield man has been charged with indecent exposure after a mother and son claimed he stood naked in his doorway and then moved in front of an open window as they walked down a path leading to an elementary school.
But Erick Williamson tells WTTG Fox 5 that he was making coffee at the time and the mother and her 7-year-old son cut through his yard. He claims he didn't know they were there.
Police say they've received additional reports regarding Williamson's nudity and they're distributing a flyer in the neighborhood around the 8700 block of Arley Drive, where Williamson lives with roommates.
The incident happened around 8:40 a.m. Monday, police said. The mother and son were walking down a path that runs past Williamson's house and between tennis courts and Hunt Valley Elementary School.
The indecent-exposure charge is a misdemeanor, which means if Williamson is convicted, his name will not appear on sex offender lists. The Virginia statute makes it illegal for any person to intentionally make "an obscene display or exposure of his person, or the private parts thereof, in any public place, or in any place where others are present."
His kitchen is not a public place nor were they in his kitchen. Sounds like the police were out to get him.
Williamson told Fox 5, "If I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen, it's natural. It's my kitchen."
Carlyn Hawkins, a spokeswoman for the American Association for Nude Recreation, declined to comment on the specifics of the case. However, she said, "I'm nude when I'm in my home, but I also keep my drapes closed."
Hawkins said the association advocated naked responsibility.
"We don't want to offend anybody," she said. "We want to be accepted and we don't want any nudist to create any problems."
Williamson, a father of a 5-year-old girl, reportedly said, "There is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever do anything like that to a kid."
Last month, Fairfax County police charged Williamson with public swearing and intoxication. He was convicted of the charge Wednesday morning when he failed to appear in court. ..Source.. by Freeman Klopott, Examiner Staff Writer
