9-9-2009 Pennsylvania:
Less than two weeks after a young woman was charged with lying about being raped on a Pennsylvania college campus, another female student's allegations about a rape on a Lehigh Valley campus have been deemed "unfounded."
Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem reported Friday afternoon that a 19-year-old Lehigh University student's report of sexual assault is likely unfounded, based on the preliminary investigation. The woman was in custody of university and Bethlehem police on an unrelated matter when she made the rape claim, police said.
Because the police investigation is incomplete, The Express-Times is not publishing the woman's name. Authorities did not say whether she will face a false report charge.
Laura Gruver, an East Stroudsburg University student from Lower Nazareth Township, has been charged with lying to police about being raped Aug. 13 on her school's campus. On Aug. 20, police revealed that Gruver had recanted her story of a brutal, knife-point rape, and on Aug. 28 charged her with the third-degree misdemeanor.
The 22-year-old made up the claim, police said, because she was having personal problems. ..Source.. by Express-Times staff
