'Sick' inmates wanted to buy pedophile's court transcript

A CONVICTED pedophile has revealed how he was offered money by other sex offenders in jail to buy his transcript from court detailing his horrific crime.
The Queensland pedophile, known as ‘’John’’, spoke on 612 ABC Brisbane's breakfast program with presenter Madonna King today and said there were some ``very sick people'' in jail.

``I was offered money as such from other sex offenders to buy my transcript from court,'' he said.

``I was in protected custody ... I made a point of trying to stay away from them (other pedophiles) as much as possible.''

He served six months for sexual offences involving his step-daughter.

John said he has ``nothing to hide'' and said people living in his street do not know he is convicted child sex offender.

But the treatment of other convicted sex offenders including Dennis Ferguson by the public and media terrifies him.

``It scares me the vigilante type thing, e.g. Dennis Ferguson,'' John said.

``I honestly believe people (in my neighbourhood) don't need to know by background.

``The police know who I am, they keep a check of me and I report to them.''

John is one of 3000 Queenslanders registered on a national sex offender's register, but said police don't keep frequent enough checks on his whereabouts.

``I report every year, if I change my car, or job, I report that to them,'' he said.

John is continue to undergo counseling and said he won't re-offend after completing a rehabilitation course.
