MI- Out-of-state inmates on the way to Michigan?

Hopefully whoever is making the Michigan decision on this issue, is reading about the terrible gang problems and riots that California has had in its prisons.

7-1-2009 Michigan:

Calif., Alaska prisoners could help save jobs

LANSING -- Michigan may not be able to afford to keep all of its own criminals behind bars, but the state apparently is ready to take inmates from elsewhere for the right price.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced Monday she has offered bed space in soon-to-be-vacated prisons in Muskegon and Standish to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, as he deals with prison overcrowding and budget deficits.

Two weeks ago, Michigan made a pitch for 1,200 prisoners from Alaska. A Granholm spokeswoman said hosting out-of-state inmates could save some prison jobs.

Room rates for Hotel California (or Alaska) haven't been set. Corrections Department spokesman Russ Marlan said a price would have to be negotiated based on multiple factors, including how many beds were needed and what kind of prisoners were sent to fill them.

A delegation from California's prison system is to visit in a few weeks, he said. ..Source.. by DAWSON BELL • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER

I have a brother in law that works at the standish prison, has worked there for years. Now the are closing it just to bring in California/Alaskian prisoners. Why are they closing standish, and my brother in law loseing his job, who is gonna guard these new batch of prisoners? It doesn't seem like it's gonna be the standish Guards? Is also coming from Al. & Ca, Are they bring their guards? Or are we also being saddled with that burden also?
THINK BEFORE YOU DO THIS? MORE STRESS AND MONEY OUT OF OUR POCKETS, THAT CAN BEARLY AFFORD THE PRISONERS WE HAVE NOW!
