GA- Woman in center of sex registry debate arrested on drug charges

Now we see the results of putting registrants under severe stress with these useless sex offender laws! Every human being has a breaking point, unfortunately drugs give a person a temporary haven from stress, but long term is no answer, yet what can these folks do to relieve the stress?

7-9-2009 Georgia:

A Harlem woman who was the focus of a Georgia's sex offender registry law was arrested Wednesday on drug charges.

Wendy Whitaker, 29, of Church Street, was charged with purchase/possession/manufacturing/distribution/sale of a controlled substance and possession of Schedule II drugs. She is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center on a $15,200 bond, according to jail records.

When she was 17, Mrs. Whitaker, was convicted of sodomy involving a consensual act with a teen boy. Because of that charge she was evicted from her home in 2008 because of stricter Georgia sex offender laws enacted in 2006.

Her name was not on the deed to the home, which was too close to a church and day-care center.

Her case received state and regional notoriety for what some suggested were problems with the Georgia law. ..Source.. by Valerie Rowell | Columbia County Bureau
