An anonymous tip has revealed to Novi police the identity of a woman who kissed two 11-year-old girls as they were running on Taft Road, according to a statement issued today.
According to Novi police, the girls were a part of the Girls on the Run program, an after-school program aimed at helping girls build self-esteem and friendship through exercise.
They were running at about 4 p.m. Sunday when the woman — who was near a parked car in the Novi Meadows Elementary School lot — told the girls her name and said she’d been waiting for them. She then grabbed the girls and kissed them. The girls screamed and ran away.
The woman, who police say suffers from mental health issues and is receiving medical treatment, drove away.
Police say they do not believe the woman intended to hurt the girls.
