OK, so the UK is one of the remotest areas of the world? (I am not from the UK by the way, but an even more remote part of the world). Well I guess for Americans everywhere outside USA is remote?

About Susan Boyle herself, what makes her remarkable is that the audience and judges were prejudiced by her appearance. If she had been a glamorous 21 year old she would have made a definite impact - but not as big a one.
