UPDATE on Hearing: Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA): Barriers to Timely Compliance by States

3-12-2009 National:

A few things to report:

It is important to all of us to be able to quote things that were said at the hearing, much of it was significant, and the only way to do that is to have the testimony available so we may copy from it when we comment in the future. That is why I have focused on that element. Accordingly:

1) The testimony of Laura Rogers will eventually be online, the reason it is late is, that they had not OCR'ed it before the hearing (OCR=Optical Character Reader) and if you know how they work, it still needs to be reviewed as nothing works perfectly.

2) The submitted testimony of other folks, well thats going to take a long time, and possibly too long so it will be in the final report of the hearing, and may not make it online. It will be ultimately in Thomas as part of the hearing materials.

3) So that folks know, if testimony was submitted beforehand ACCORDING TO THE RULES then it became part of the record, however, if the rules were not followed, the best we can expect is, that it will not be considered. Never forget, Congress controls the "SPORT (forum, access to make changes)" and either you play by the rules or they will not listen.

4) The video of the hearing is online in two places: HERE (CfcAmerica) -and- sdp123a website or directly on the House website, a special thanks to whoever worked so hard to make it available for everyone. I am hoping the number of folks that want to view it will not cause the sites to go down. Please be patient if you can't get to it and try later on. (I do not know the person of the second site who made this available, but thankful for the work)....
