President-Elect Obama Launches Internet Portal to Advise and Listen to the People

11-9-2008 National:

On Thursday President-Elect Obama's transition team established a website Change.Gov to both, announce what is transpiring, AND, to listen to folks across the nation.

His website has various sections Newsroom, Blog, Learn, Agenda, American Moment, America Serves, Jobs (w/his administration), and the ABOUT section. If you use RSS Reader you can subscribe to "Newsroom and/or Blog" sections which will keep you automatically updated on whatever is posted.

There is a wealth of information out there already, and the mechanism for more so visit frequently to see what has changed or is coming.

Since my message goes out to many RSO families and RSOs I advise you read their "Privacy Policy" found under the ABOUT section. That lets you know exactly how he "will/will not" gather and use information from your access to the website, or through e-mails you may send to him. This is a well thought out and reasonable policy.

Under the American Moment section are two very interesting sections: A) "Share your story" -AND- B) "Share your vision."

Under "Share your story" it says: "Start right now. Tell us your story in your own words about what this campaign and this election means to you. Share your hopes for an Obama Administration and a government for the people."

Given "CHANGE" is the focus of the Obama campaign this might be a way to open a discussion on the problems faced by RSOs and their families faced with more and more burdensome laws, especially the Adam Walsh Act.

Note, the space allowed for a story is limited, so folks will have to write almost w/abbreviations. However, in today's world videos allow folks to cover much much more, and there is a place to attach either a photo or a video if you have that capability.

At the very top of every page is a place for a e-mail address and zip code, but no instructions to explain what that means or will be used for. Your guess is as good as mine, the website might still need some more work but thats OK.

With that said, and I'm sure folks will find other uses, go and enjoy this NEW way to contact and have your voices heard: CHANGE.gov
