BLOOMINGTON — A 6-year-old Bloomington child is in Riley Children’s Hospital after being burned while trick-or-treating.
Bloomington police were called at 7:14 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of Blue Ridge Drive. According to a police report, the child was dressed in a mummy costume for Halloween. Police said the costume was made primarilly of gauze material.
While standing on a porch, the child got close to some ceramic jack-o-lanterns which held candles. Police said the child initially ran before falling to the ground and rolling. The child’s parents helped to snuff out the flames.
Police said the child suffered severe burns and was transported to Riley by helicopter.
Her identity and further information on her condition was not available from police. ..News Source.. by Times-Mail
