At least this report provides us with facts to refute implied claims that he is not transient. First notice he is properly registered in two places, yes as transient, and that the homeowner says "he sometimes stays there." There are no facts substantiating why the media was tracking him down like paparazzi after Britney Spears, and multiple news crews as well. Under circumstances like that, many folks -even celbreties- have cracked and fought the paparazzi as this fellow did. However, the box cutter is really what will do him in because that goes overboard, he should have called the police instead. There is no doubt in my mind that he was provoked without reason and broke as some will do who cannot handle such attention. Hopefully the judge will consider ALL circumstances.

Nobody Injured During Attack
RIVERBANK, Calif. -- A violent sex offender who's been on the move without registering had to be restrained from attacking reporters with a box cutter when they tracked him down at a Riverbank home.
Darren Kawamoto, 44, was put in police custody Tuesday evening after a violent outburst directed at reporters and camera crews, including KCRA 3's Richard Sharp and photographer Steve Gonzalez.
Reporters had tracked Kawamoto down at a home the renter of the property says Kawamoto sometimes stays at.
Nobody was injured during the attack.
Dozens of residents from Oakdale and Riverbank were meeting Tuesday at the Oakdale Community Center after hearing Kawamoto had moved to their neighborhood.
Kawamoto doesn't have a permanent home and is registered as a transient in both Oakdale and Riverbank.
Police said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss sex offenders and safety tips.
Kawamoto's crimes include sodomy and oral copulation with a victim younger than 14.
Kawamoto had to be restrained by what may have been a family member after getting a box cutter out of his vehicle during the incident.
Kawamoto also pushed some people, threw down a camera and threatened to cut throats.
He was arrested and booked with making felony criminal threats.
A woman who spoke with KCRA 3 said she was one of Kawamoto's original victims 20 years ago and that she was not surprised by the attack and still lives in fear of Kawamoto. ..News Source.. by KCRA 3 News

It is too bad that they don't give a reporter that we can contact or enable comments. To tell the truth I have often said that I am surprised that former sex offender's don't explode often. But they don't as a rule. I think that says a lot in the favor of treatment. This guy DID look like a dangerous man but these stories always just tell a small piece of the story. Who knows how much this man has been persecuted. As was mentioned how much can a person take. Movie Stars sometimes get violent with the media and they are being adored by the public...how about a man who is being hounded like an animal. If the man is truly dangerous, then society needs to be protected from him...but I would need, and so should the general public, a lot more information before passing to harsh a judgement on this man.
