OR- Letter:Treatment program plays a role

8-11-2008 Oregon:

To the Editor:

I wanted to write to inform the community that there is a bona fide sex offender treatment program in Grant County. Oregon Life Solutions is a program supported (not financially) by the courts and the law enforcement agencies in Grant County.

We have over 10 years of experience treating sex offenders and domestic violence offenders. We also provide treatment for many other mental health issues. Our staff is small but well qualified. In addition to several years of continuing education is such areas as evaluating sex offenders and the level at which they are placed, we offer marriage and family therapy, individual, couples and group therapy and counseling. We also have a well qualified substance abuse program that is recognized by the state and is often used as a referral by social service agencies and the courts.

In addition to those mentioned, we have a strong relationship with parole/probations and are an intergral part of the ongoing supervision of felons and people on bench probation.

So I was surprised to learn that there was a forum concerning sex offenders in our community, and that the only person who provides treatment as prescribed by the Oregon Regulatory Statutes was not invited.

If anyone in the community is interested in talking with us, they should call 541-575-0909 or 541-413-1351.
