Is everyone who swats someone with a rolled-up newspaper arrested for a sex crime, or is it just registered sex offenders who are arrested? Or, is it a question of where a person is swatted? What if a man swats a man? Possibilities abound!
5-17-2008 Tennessee:
CLINTON, Tenn. — An Anderson County grand jury indicted 41 people on 83 criminal offenses -- including a sexual battery charge against a registered sex offender -- during its regular session last week at the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton.
Of those indicted, 16 people have been served with Criminal Court capiases, including two people whose cases stemmed from Oak Ridge crimes.
The cases involve charges of sexual battery and aggravated assault from two incidents in 2007.
True bills were returned against 56-year-old Michael Joseph Skorski, 113 Hamilton Circle, for sexual battery; and against 25-year-old Keena Marie Foster, 503 Utica Circle, for aggravated assault.
Skorski is a registered sex offender and is accused of using a rolled-up poster to swat an Oliver Springs teenager on the buttocks at an Oak Ridge business last November. He is also accused of making sexual remarks to the girl at an earlier time.
Skorski was convicted in 1999 of sexual battery by an authority figure and solicitation of a minor.
Foster was arrested for aggravated assault in September after a stabbing on Utica Circle.
Foster allegedly stabbed a woman in the face during a disturbance between the woman and Foster's sister at Foster's apartment.
The victim came to Foster's apartment, confronted her, and Foster allegedly got a kitchen knife and stabbed the woman.
Criminal cases against 25 other people remain outstanding.
Arraignments will be held May 23 in Criminal Court at the Anderson County Courthouse. ..more.. by Beverly Majors
