I think what the reporter did was cruel and wrong. I know Robert Alonzo personally and the thing that happened was when he was 15 years old. Now, 15 years later he has 3 young children of his own and a wife at home to support. How can the media continue to punish someone who has already paid their dues and was obviously a minor at the time?

I agree. The majority of men and women who are designated as sex offenders are now hard working, productive members of society who have paid their dues, repented of their crime and just want to live their lives. Continued media frenzy does nothing but promote fear and distrust. And, how come we need to know where sex offenders are 24 hours a day, but not murderers, drug dealers, drunk drivers, etc. These types of crimes are harmful to everyone as well. Also, not all sex offenders are 'child molesters' or 'pedophiles' or 'rapists', but the registries don't show that. In Florida (my state) they don't even list the crime that you are actually charged with--my husband molested his daughter over 15 years ago---spent 4 years in prison and has 21 years of probation to complete. He was convicted of 'sexual conduct with a child in familial custody' (incest)...but the website says he committed battery on a child under the age of 16. It is so frustrating to see how he is treated. He has been clean since 1990...he has had a radical change in his life due to his relationship with Christ...his daughter has forgiven him and they have a good relationship now...but society only sees the 'label' not the man. His crime is what he did, not who he is. He is not a sex offender...he is no longer offending. He is a person who committed a sex offense and now will have to pay for it the rest of his life. The media is perpetuating a hate crime against men such as Robert and my husband by their continual pursuit of ratings rather than the truth....I'd like to see some coverage on the multitude of desigated sex offenders who are now doing good (to the extent they are allowed by law).
