Given voting does not take place during hours when children are at schools, what is the real issue? Dangerousness? If so, is there any other type of former offender who is more likely to be a danger to children? What about drunks, murderers, domestic violence offenders etc etc etc?3-7-2013 Missouri:
The Missouri House of Representatives is considering a bill which would mandate registered sex offenders to vote at their local country clerk’s office, instead of at schools.
The House Elections Committee held a hearing on the proposed legislation today. Rep. Tim Remole (R), is sponsoring the legislation and says that it will protect the voting rights of registered offenders, while also protecting children in schools that are designated as polling places.
No one testified in opposition to the proposal, but the Missouri Association of County Clerks says it would cost money to turn local election offices into polling places on election days.
The bill also states that if offenders can't make it to the clerk's office on election day, they would be required to cast an absentee ballot. ..Source.. by Sean Sandefur
